Welding repair case studies from our IFL Service team

22nd Jul 2024

We’ve had some vintage machines in our workshop of late and our Service team have done a cracking job on repairs.

The Sealey Supermig 185

A Sealey Supermig 185 was returned due to a non-responsive trigger. This issue is commonly linked to a control PCB failure. Our team conducted several tests to confirm the faulty control PCB and visually identified a bulging transformer that was shorting and drawing to much current, therefore limiting the ability to trigger the machine. In addition to repairing the control board, we provided a new torch. The result was a fully functional machine and a satisfied customer.

A Migatronic Automig 180MXE

A customer brought in their vintage Migatronic Automig 180MXE from the 1990s, which had stopped working and was emitting smoke from the auxiliary transformer. Additionally, the trigger was unresponsive. To revive this classic machine, we replaced the auxiliary transformer, repaired the euro connector, and serviced the contactor. The customer was delighted to see their 30-year-old welder brought back to life.

IFL MIG 130

An IFL MIG 130 from our I-Tech range, over a decade old, was returned with a trigger response fault. By replacing the relay on the control board, we restored the trigger response and functionality. The long-time user of this machine was thrilled to have it operational again, ready for many more years of welding.
